Green Goddess

The La Quinta Arts Festival is the #3 ranked art festival in the nation and well worth attending if you ever get the chance.  As part of the ambiance, the La Quinta Arts Foundation who sponsor the event, arranged for costumed mimes to roam the festival grounds.  This year it was this "Green Goddess" and her sidekick (he looked like dust and dirt).

Zinnias for Sale

Every Sunday morning we have a Farmer's Market in La Quinta.  The produce must come from within a 50 mile radius of the area so we know it's realatively local stuff.  Sometimes there are flowers and I was surprised to find cut zinnias.  They're hardy and make vibrant floral arrangements.

Veteran's Day in the Park

It's important for us to remember those who serve our country so that we can live free.  The City of La Quinta, where I live, holds a ceremony each Veteran's Day to recognize those members in the community who've been a member of the Armed Forces. This memorial, with their names engraved on it, stands to honor those men and women.

Snow in the Desert

Remember, I promised you more snow? It rained all day yesterday and it was cold. That meant we should have snow. And I wasn't disappointed. This morning I awoke to a sunny day and snow on all the mountains surrounding the Coachella Valley. This is a view from my driveway. Looking southwest. I felt I could reach out and touch the hills it was so clear. By this afternoon a lot of the snow had melted but what a sight we had this morning.
